In 1500/1501 Ludwig Sterner, notary of Freiburg (Switzerland) penned two important chronicles: the "Chronik der Burgunderkriege" by Peter von Molsheim and the "Schwabenkriegschronik" by Hans Lenz together with some important amendments by himself. This manuscript is the only surviving scource of the poetic report on the Swiss-Swabian War of 1499 as well as of several historic chants and it is therefore of paramount importance for the history of Switzerland. As the original manuscript was not accessible to research for more than 150 years, the facsimile edition makes this important text available for the first time to scholars and bibliophiles.

Colophon and date by Sterner himself with signature and his notary signet
